Behind the Scenes

Maintaining a retreat and conference center such as Campus by the Sea takes a lot of work. Sun, salt air, and termites take their toll. Thankfully we have been blessed with a young, eager staff team who love to slather paint, sand rust spots, and dig holes in the ground. During the winter months, our crew have painted buildings, repaired bunk beds, and hauled supplies helping us get ready for the 2013 camping season. Our able office team have prepared budgets and processed family camp registrations. Pictured below are some of our staff at work fixing bunk beds and moving concrete from the old basketball court to the upper canyon. The railroad ties will be used to build a walkway from the pier to the fairway.

The kitchen team has been busy preparing new recipes for your dining delight. They also made some modifications to their workspace. In order to reduce kitchen noise when groups are using the dining area during meal preparation time, the old screen serving windows were removed and replaced with portable panels that can be installed when needed. The open window space also makes interaction between kitchen staff and our guests more pleasant. Camp artist Annette Stanley will add artwork to the panels later this spring.
