Alumni & Friends Camp

Due to COVID-19 restictions we will not be hosting the 2020 Alumni & Friends Camp.

Check future social media posts about future Alumni events.

Remember your student days at Campus by the Sea?

You are invited to return to or visit for the first time InterVarsity's camp on Catalina Island. Alumni & Friends Camp 2020 is an opportunity to getaway and make space for God to speak.

All are welcome - recent grads, seasoned alum, singles, families, and empty nesters! Come on your own or with a group of alumni friends. Take this opportunity to start a new annual rhythm in your life for spiritual renewal, rest, reflection, and fun.

During the week, we will participate in manuscript study and small groups in the morning; have unstructured afternoons for rest, play, or chatting with new friends; and enjoy evening worship and prayer, campus briefings, campfires, games and discussions.

Childcare and kids program will be provided during main sessions and each afternoon will be free for families and friends to enjoy the waterfront and craft shack.

One of the days will be a free day including an optional hike or boat trip to Avalon.

What Guests are Saying About IV Alumni & Friends Camp

Alumni camp has become an important and wonderful part of my family's summer rhythm. The week at CBS is a time of family bonding, spiritual growth, connecting with friends and playing! My kids love their age-appropriate group and camp activities and leave the week feeling encouraged in their faith journeys. My husband and I appreciate the space to hear what God may be speaking to us through his Word, often learning from the insights of those in the community. In addition, the various themed workshops have inspired our marriage and given us new ways of parenting. Lastly, having a week unplugged from our various electronic devices and work responsibilities allows us time to rest and recharge. —Diana Meza-Ehlert, UCSD ‘97

Like others, I consider CBS “Holy Ground” in my spiritual journey. My family and I are grateful for the opportunity to return to CBS. —Sandra Park Chan, UCI ’93

My family connected with God and other families with many of the same joys and challenges we have as parents with young children. My wife and I connected with God, each other, and others during the Colossians manuscript study and my two daughters were able to learn about God's plan for them and make friends as well. As a family we connected with each other, absent of the worries and pulls on our attention, surrounded by God's beauty and his people at Catalina.  Coming to Alumni Camp at CBS will now be an annual tradition for the Espinosa family. —Joseph Espinosa, UCLA ’01

Catalina is a special place. We basically go every year, and there’s something about it, maybe the island, maybe because it feels safe, maybe that we’re all there as a community and we’ve become friends, maybe because nobody’s on their phone, but some of my best memories happened there. I will remember them for the rest of my life. —Nathan Ball, age 14

My family has 5 members, and going to Alumni Camp is a bargain. At around $2,500 for 6 nights, that's $416 per night. A hotel will easily cost $300 per night, and meals and snacks around $200 per day. If you add extra activities, like snorkeling, kayaking, or going to Avalon, we are adding $75 for each activity.  Beyond cost, there's also the peace of mind. We don't have to decide what to eat or where to go. The meals are great. Our kids can roam freely around camp. We get to be together as a family, and then do individual we please. Add the worship, inductive Scripture study, and the scenery of the coast, and you are easily seeing this as a time to be restored. It's beyond just a vacation. That's why we went for 4 consecutive years. And our family friends...3 other families...also came, and we had so many good times over the years.  We were blessed as a family together to be reconnected to the Lord, assisted by a caring staff, in an amazing location.  —Mike Veerman, Oxy '90
